PETER WHANG, M.D.

Dr. Whang is actively involved in clinical and basic science research with a focus on the biology of spinal fusion and bone healing, bone grafting substitutes, and evidence-based medicine. He continues to present the results of his studies at a number of national and international meetings. He is also involved in the development of new spinal implants and techniques. At this time he is currently an investigator for various clinical trials. Dr. Whang is on the editorial staff of several publications and serves on multiple national committees. In addition to his research pursuits, Dr. Whang devotes much of his time to the teaching of residents and medical students in the Yale School of Medicine.

ZFUZE OSTEOGENIC:

In the body, various metallic ions act as cofactors of enzymes and stimulate a chain of reactions associated with cell signaling pathways for tissue regeneration.   Metallic Ions as Therapeutic Agents has become a focused area of research within Regenerative Medicine, the issue to date has been “controlling the release of these MITA’s in concentration and time of release”.   ZFUZE is the ideal polymer to accurately “post-load” various combinations of MITA’s for bone growth, antimicrobial, and tissue engineering applications. Adding these MITA’s to the pro-healing M2 macrophage modulating ZFUZE platform puts DiFusion at the cutting edge of therapeutic polymer research.

NITIN BHATIA, M.D.

Dr. Bhatia graduated with honors from Stanford University, after which he attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During medical school, Dr. Bhatia won numerous research awards and was the valedictorian of his graduating class. Following his Orthopedic surgery residency at UCLA, Dr. Bhatia completed a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital, after which he completed a second spine surgery fellowship at Miami Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bhatia is active in multiple research projects including federally funded spinal cord injury research and has been nominated for the prestigious Russell Hibbs research award by the Scoliosis Research Society. His research has also won awards from the Cervical Spine Research Society (CSRS), the Western Orthopaedic Association (WOA), and the American College of Spine Surgery.

Dr. Bhatia has been featured as a treating surgeon in the television show “Guardian Angels, MD” seen nationwide on The Learning Channel (TLC) as well as programs on PBS. His amazing surgical results have been featured in Sports Illustrated, Time, the Orange County Register, and on Fox Sports and the Bill Handel radio show on KFI.

CleanFUZE Antimicrobial

CleanFuze is an antimicrobial polymer which elutes pure silver cations in a measured and dosed manner over several weeks post-operative.   CleanFuze has achieved a six-log reduction 99.9999% versus MRSA in a Clinical Rabbit Study conducted at Clemson University. CleanFuze received a CE Mark in 2013 and is not yet cleared for use in the USA.
