
Derrick Johns
Derrick Johns founded DiFUSION Technologies, Inc. and serves as its Executive VP. He has more than a decade of experience in the orthopedic industry and has launched over a dozen products – totaling at more than $500 million in annual sales. Mr. Johns has directed development teams at Medtronic, Biomet, and Abbott Spine. He has extensive experience in product development, marketing and sales. Most recently, Mr. Johns managed the Thoracolumbar Business Unit ($50 million) at Abbott Spine and oversaw the Sequoia Project.
Mr. Johns served both in the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington D.C. and as a Squad Leader with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit-Special Operations Capable MEU-SOC in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Desert Sting. Mr. Johns attended Hamilton College and authored his Senior Thesis on Natural Selection and Viral Evolution (1995) – after completing a four year enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Matthew Geck, M.D.
Matthew J. Geck, MD is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who has a practice focused exclusively on spine and scoliosis surgery. For the past 10 years his Austin-based practice has focused exclusively on spine and scoliosis surgery, and since 2003 has become the largest spinal deformity practice in central Texas treating adult and pediatric scoliosis, kyphosis and other complex spinal problems. Dr. Geck also specializes in cervical disc replacement and cervical myelopathy.
Dr. Geck performed his undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin in the Medical Scholars program and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1992. He attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and graduated in 1996 Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Geck performed his orthopedic surgery residency at the UCLA Medical Center, and was Chief Resident in 2000.

Gary Ghiselli, M.D.
Gary Ghiselli, MD is a board certified, fellowship-trained Orthopaedic surgeon who has a practice focused exclusively on spine and complex deformity and degenerative disorders of the cervical spine. Dr. Ghiselli did his fellowship in spinal surgery, focusing on cervical spine disorders and trauma at University Hospital of Cleveland with Henry H. Bohlman, M.D., in Cleveland, Ohio. He received his MD from University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas, graduating Summa Cum Laude and also holds a B.S. from UCLA in Biochemistry, Cum Laude.

Joseph Crudden, PhD
Dr. Joseph Crudden, PhD serves as Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Research at DiFUSION Technologies, Inc. As an R&D chemist at AW Chesterton in Groveland, MA, Dr. Crudden worked on the development of thermo set polymer composite systems for industrial maintenance and repair. As a technical service and applications development chemist at WR Grace, Hampshire Chemical and Dow Chemical, he was responsible for developing technical information and applications expertise to support the use of its existing surfactants as well as developing a pipeline of new and innovative surfactant products, some of which were shown to be orders of magnitude safer than existing products.
At Agion Technology Corporation in Wakefield, MA, Dr. Crudden worked as a senior scientist, focusing on the controlled release of antimicrobial metal ions from thermo set plastic systems for applications such as self sterilizing flooring systems. He was also responsible for the development of antimicrobial metal/acid/surfactant systems with broad applications in disinfection, sterilization and agricultural pesticides for which several patents have been filed. Additionally, he has been involved with numerous articles published globally, and several patents issued both in the US and worldwide. Dr. Crudden holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from UCD (National University of Ireland) where he carried out research on the structure of electrolyte solutions and the solubilization/dissolution kinetics of oils by surfactant solutions. Additionally, he holds an MBA from Suffolk University, Boston.
